New Direct Flights from Montreal to Porto Announced for 2025

Turismo de Portugal has announced a new direct route connecting Montreal to Porto, operated by Air Canada. Starting in summer 2025, the seasonal route will have four flights each week, marking Air Canada’s first direct route to Porto and its third to Portugal.

This route is the result of joint efforts by Turismo de Portugal, ANA Aeroportos, Turismo do Porto e Norte de Portugal, and Air Canada. It aims to strengthen tourism ties and create new commercial opportunities between Portugal and Canada. According to Turismo de Portugal, Air Canada is a key partner in expanding air travel options from Canada.

Canadian Tourism to Portugal Shows Strong Growth

The Canadian market has shown significant growth in tourism to Portugal. In 2023, Canada ranked 10th for overnight stays and 9th for the number of guests in Portugal. Canadian tourists accounted for 2.7% of overnight stays and 3.3% of total guests. Compared to 2022, overnight stays by Canadians increased by 56.9%. The number of Canadian guests rose by 54.5%, reaching 593,000.

These new direct flights from Montreal to Porto are a strategic boost for Canada-Portugal connectivity and tourism. The route will enhance economic and cultural ties between the two countries.
